AMANDA L. MILLS, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Amanda is a trauma focused counselor that sees adults, adolescents, and children for individual therapy as well as couples and families. She incorporates different treatment modalities into her work, with an emphasis on bonding and coping techniques. She has successfully worked with many diverse clients, who presented such issues as depression, anxiety, traumatic stress (including experiences of domestic violence, sexual assault, adult survivors of childhood abuse, medical trauma and single incident traumas such as car accidents), grief, relationship difficulties, difficulty transitioning to parenthood, college or career, spirituality, self-esteem, co-parenting, new motherhood, traumatic birth experiences, separation/divorce and stress management). Amanda has also worked extensively with families and helped with parenting and bonding issues, as well as reunification.
She believes that the therapeutic relationship is especially important for allowing people to realize their capacity for change and she provides a warm, accepting, and welcoming environment to facilitate growth. Amanda is passionate about working collaboratively with her clients to identify their strengths and ways to cope with barriers and triggers through a trauma informed lens.
Amanda received her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Tennessee. During her training she interned at a Children’s Advocacy Center working with children of sexual assault, trauma and abuse; in a foster family agency working with the same issues and treating the attachment and bonding within families; as well as with adults in the criminal system and Sexual Assault Crisis Center. Since that time, she has obtained her LCSW in the state of Tennessee and worked within agency settings as well as within a private practice.
Beyond her professional life, Amanda is a mother to two beautiful daughters here in East Tennessee. She is a published author and enjoys writing poetry. Her book is entitled “To The Grave”. Her hobbies include spending time with her loved ones, exercise, watching sports, swimming, anything animal related and traveling.
