PEYTON WOODS

A-LPC/MHSP, NCC

Peyton is a compassionate psychotherapist with a particular clinical focus on men’s issues, including identity development, emotional isolation, and the often-overlooked ways men experience anxiety and depression. He offers a steady, relational approach to help individuals manage stress, gain clarity, and build emotional resilience—especially as men’s mental health concerns continue to rise in modern culture.

Peyton is passionate about helping men move beyond internal and cultural barriers to vulnerability, equipping them with tools to live more connected, grounded, and emotionally present lives. He believes this process begins by exploring the personal narratives that shape emotional patterns, identity, and the capacity for change.

He holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Richmont Graduate University and is an Associate Licensed Professional Counselor under the supervision of Shawn Helvey, LPC-MHSP. During his clinical internship at Pellissippi State Community College, Peyton worked with students from diverse backgrounds, presenting with a wide range of clinical concerns.

Peyton also holds a Master’s degree in Recreation and Sport Management from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he published research on the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) movement in college athletics and taught undergraduate physical education courses as a graduate teaching associate.

Central to his work is helping clients uncover unconscious patterns and core narratives that shape their relationships and sense of identity. Drawing from psychodynamic, narrative, and attachment-based therapies, he believes true healing happens through meaningful connection—and views the therapeutic relationship as a key agent of change. Peyton possesses a rich background working with individuals recovering from religious or spiritual trauma and abuse, guiding them through psychological pain and toward a restored sense of self. As a former college athlete himself, he also works with athletes on mental performance and self-regulation.

When he is not in the office, he enjoys running, hiking, paddle boarding, spending time with close friends, and watching a variety of sports.
