PEYTON WOODS
Peyton is a compassionate psychotherapist who believes that exploring our personal stories is essential for working through complex trauma and finding lasting change. Using a trauma-informed, psychodynamic, and narrative therapy approach, he supports people in gently uncovering the core stories of their harm and heartache, fostering healing, integration, and restoration.
Peyton holds a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Richmont Graduate University and is a pre-licensed counselor under supervision by Shawn Helvey, LPC-MHSP. He completed his clinical internship at Pellissippi State Community College where he worked with students of varying ages, backgrounds, and clinical concerns.
He received his first Master's degree in Recreation and Sport Management from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2021 where he published research on the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) progression in college sports, and taught physical education courses to undergraduate students as a graduate teaching associate.
Central to his work, Peyton helps clients discover unconscious patterns or processes that shape behavior and actions, believing that true healing happens through meaningful relationships. He understands the profound impact relationships have on our lives and views the therapeutic relationship as a key agent of change.
As a former college basketball player, Peyton finds fulfillment in supporting athletes as they strengthen their mental and emotional resilience and pursue peak performance in their sport. He is also deeply committed to working with men and women affected by religious or spiritual abuse and trauma, providing a safe and supportive environment where they can process complex emotions, challenge harmful beliefs, and work toward healing and rebuilding personal identity.
When he is not in the office, he enjoys running, hiking, traveling, spending time with close friends, and watching a variety of sports.
