FAQs

We are proud to serve Maryville and its surrounding communities in Blount County. You can also call our office at (865) 281-1830 or send a message.

  • We work with children, teens, men, and their families in Maryville, TN and surrounding communities. Our clients are ages 8 and up.

Whether the transition is from middle school to high school, high school to college or career, home after wilderness therapy or outpatient treatment, or a change in careers, everyone can benefit from having someone to talk to as they gain their footing in a new direction. We specialize in helping individuals figure out the best next step when they aren’t sure what path to take.

Most often, clients are struggling with difficulties related to depression, anxiety, addiction, trauma, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, family dynamics, and men’s issues.

  • Contact the ManMade Group office at (865) 281-1830 or complete the contact form online. We will ask that you tell us a little bit about yourself or your child. We will schedule a free, 30-minute consultation with a clinician based on the presenting concern, the counselor’s experience, insurance (if applicable), and current availability.

  • The most important factor in a therapeutic relationship is the relationship itself. This consultation allows you, or your child, to get to know one of our counselors to see if it’s a good match for future sessions.

For minors, we recommend allowing as much of the session to be one-on-one with the counselor as possible, but you can also defer to your child’s preference and what makes them most comfortable.

By the end of the consultation, we want to understand your goals and we will outline how we can best support you in a therapeutic setting.

Once you have your 30-minute consultation and decide that you want to move forward, just contact us and we will add you to the counselor’s schedule. We will ask that you complete intake paperwork that will ask for basic contact and background information.

  • In-network status varies by provider, but we are in network with Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, United Healthcare/Optum, UMR, and Tricare.

If you have a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan, a Health Savings Account (HSA), or other flexible health care benefits, you may be able to process your appointments as an out-of-network claim and receive full or partial reimbursement. We can provide a Superbill upon request which is a very detailed receipt which you can forward to your insurance company for processing after you have paid for the session in full.

Every insurance plan is different. We highly recommend verifying your coverage for outpatient behavioral health benefits with your insurance company before scheduling your 30-minute consultation. If you need help or guidance, call our office at (865) 281-1830.

Please note, mentoring outings and parent coaching are not eligible for insurance reimbursement.

Our private pay rate ranges from $100.00 to $150.00 and depends on the provider.

  • Pre-licensure candidates have their Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and are working toward their Licensed Professional Counselor credential.

During this period, they have already undergone hundreds of hours of supervised experience and continue to be supervised as they develop. This means they have weekly one-on-one meetings with Shawn Helvey, LPC-MHSP where they receive meaningful feedback based on their experiences and challenges with clients. You're not just getting one therapist—you’re getting access to a collaborative team invested in your growth and success.

Our pre-licensed therapists are highly trained, passionate, and carefully selected for their ability to connect with clients, deliver high-quality care, and their belief in our overall therapeutic philosophy. Being newer to the field, they bring fresh perspectives and the latest research-informed approaches.

  • Yes. You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate in writing for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services at least one (1) business day before your first appointment (this does not include your 30-minute free consultation). You can also ask for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule your first appointment.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400.00 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 985-3059.
